Introduction to Peening

Start with the fundamentals that every certified operator needs to know.

  • Why compressive stress matters in aerospace maintenance
  • Real-world peening applications across civil and military environments
  • How the peening process works mechanically
  • The impact of quality peening on component life and safety
  • Key considerations before starting any peening operation
Peening Intensity

Learn to measure and control the force behind every peen — the foundation of a repeatable, certifiable process.

  • Understanding intensity as impact force
  • Compression layer thickness and its effect on part performance
  • How to find and verify the correct intensity
  • Generating a saturation curve step by step
  • Hands-on saturation curve practice
Peening Coverage

Master the relationship between coverage and process consistency.

  • What coverage means in a peening context
  • How coverage is measured and verified
  • Understanding 100% coverage requirements
  • When and why 200% coverage applies
Rotary Peening

Go deep on the mechanics, tooling and real-world applications of rotary flapper peening in aerospace maintenance.

  • How rotary flapper peening works mechanically
  • Aerospace applications and use cases
  • Process limitations and how to work within them
  • Flap types and selection criteria
  • Mandrel types and configurations
  • Flap changing procedure
  • Flap movement and technique
  • Stand-off distance and its impact on intensity
  • Arc height conversion
  • Typical blending instructions
  • Audits and certifications requirements
Operating the FlapSpeed® PRO

Get hands-on with every feature of the FlapSpeed® PRO — so your team performs with confidence from day one.

  • Why a dedicated flapper peening controller matters
  • Full feature overview of the FlapSpeed® PRO
  • Straight handpiece setup and operation
  • 90° handpiece setup and operation
  • Connector types and configurations
