One of the biggest challenges posed by the industry when repairing drive components is the ban on FOD in the turbine.

Shockform, in partnership with MTU Aero Engines, designed and developed the Spiker® to provide a tool that allows technicians to carry out shot peening repairs directly on the turbine, without prior disassembly of the blade, stage or any another time-consuming element.

The Spiker® controls all process parameters and makes it possible to intervene rapidly and without the risk of leaving FOD in the engine. By limiting disassembly / reassembly, considerable time saving can be achieved

Spiker®-ES Needle Peening for Controlled Pneumatic Needle Peening

The Spiker®-ES has been developed with aero engines manufacturers for repairs directly on the engine with no risk of Foreign Object Damage (FOD). With the Spiker®-ES, peening is performed using tungsten carbide needles and the process parameters are continuously monitored, controlled and recorded. Shockform’s E-Strip® allows peening intensity measurement in real-time.
